Canadian Firm Buys The Orion and Whole Foods Building in Central West End for $80 Million | St. Louis Dispatch

ST. LOUIS – May 14, 2018 – Berkadia today announced the sale of The Orion Apartments and Whole Foods, a mixed-use property in St. Louis. Managing Director Ken Aston and Senior Director Andrea Kendrick of Berkadia’s St. Louis office completed the sale on behalf of the seller, St. Louis-based Mills Properties, Inc. The buyer was Canada-based Brass Enterprises, Inc., and the deal closed on May 8.

“The Orion sale has set the new pricing benchmark for all apartment sales in the Midwest region of the United States,” said Aston.

“The developer, Mills Properties, is widely regarded as one of the premiers in the Midwest. The great deal of interest, both nationally and internationally, that we received was a testament to this level of excellence,” said Kendrick.

Located in the fashionable Central West End District of St. Louis, the property features 178 apartment units and the Whole Foods retail space on the ground level. The Orion’s amenity package includes a rooftop saltwater pool, electric car charging stations, a structured parking garage, a fitness center and a club room featuring a billiards table. The community is located just minutes from Forest Park and downtown St. Louis, with residents having convenient access to Interstate Routes 44 and 64.
