Indianapolis, Indiana – July 6, 2020 – Berkadia today announced it would be expanding its Midwest footprint with the launch of its newest office in Indianapolis, Indiana. Newly added mortgage bankers Managing Director Jason Brown and Director Dan Gable will join investment sales Senior Director Chris Bruzas, who first established Berkadia’s presence in the city earlier this year.
“Our teams across the Midwest are incredibly active–in 2019 we did more than $1.1 billion in sales and $4.5 billion in financing across the region—so continuing to deepen our presence is a natural step,” said EVP and Head of Production Ernie Katai. “In Jason and Dan, we have a seasoned mortgage banking team to complement Chris’ investment sales expertise, to provide clients in the city and the region with the best-in-class advice and resources. As investors increasingly look beyond the coastal markets to the central U.S. for opportunities, we’re well prepared to help them identify and capitalize on those opportunities that best suit their long-term goals.”
Brown and Gable join Berkadia from CBRE, where they were members of the Debt & Structured Finance team serving the Central U.S. They are joined by Senior Real Estate Analysts Austin Katai and Sam Orman.
“Berkadia is a true leader in commercial real estate and committed, like Dan and me, to serving as a long-term partner and strategic advisor to clients,” said Brown. “We’re thrilled to join the team and to marry our experience and expertise with Chris’ to establish Berkadia as the go-to partner for investors in Indianapolis and beyond.”
“Indianapolis started the year with considerable development underway and it remains resilient in spite of the pandemic, given its strong fundamental and increasingly diverse economic composition,” said Bruzas. “We’re excited to have a robust presence in this growing city as we grow our platform to better serve our clients.”
At CBRE, Brown served as SVP of Capital Markers and was involved in over $1.5 billion of capital market transactions. With over twenty years in the industry, he has been involved with financing multifamily, office, retail, industrial, hospitality, self-storage, owner-occupied and single-tenant net lease properties, specializing in working with clients who invest primarily in Midwestern secondary markets, including markets located in Indiana, Ohio, Michigan and Kentucky. Prior to CBRE, Brown was a Director at iCap Realty Advisors.
At CBRE, Gable served as VP of Capital Markets and was involved in over $480 million in transactions including multifamily, office, retail, hospitality and industrial deals. Prior to CBRE, he was a Collateral Analyst for PNC Bank, where he monitored approximately $800 million in debt.
In 2019, Berkadia’s loan origination volume was over $27 billion, with 1,381 loans closed and over $17 billion in combined agency loan volume. The organization has more than 60 mortgage banking, servicing and investment sales locations throughout the United States.
