Berkadia Affordable - Investment Sales
Johnathan Smith joined Berkadia Affordable Housing in 2021. Smith has been involved in the sale of over 300 multifamily assets amounting to more than 37,000 units with a total real estate value in excess of $3 billion.
Prior to joining Berkadia, Smith served as SVP of CBRE Affordable Housing for nearly ten years. The group provides investment sales, debt & structured finance for affordable housing throughout the nation. In this role, Johnathan facilitated the valuation and sale of affordable properties nationwide. His expertise includes the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program as well as numerous Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) programs such as Section 8.
Prior to CBRE, Johnathan spent six years in public accounting as a Certified Public Accountant working in various areas including affordable housing, where he performed tax, audit and other consulting projects. His experiences in public accounting led him to pursue a career in affordable housing and have served him well in developing his professional service approach to investment sales. In addition, he has served as Treasurer on the boards of two non-profit organizations.
