Since joining Berkadia in 2016 to further expand the firm’s multifamily platform in San Francisco and Northern California, Joseph Choi has closed roughly $2.5 Billion in loan dollars over 25,000 units across the US. His focus is to provide high level advisory services to his clients with an emphasis on middle-market multifamily transactions in all US markets.

Joe’s ability to understand the specific needs of his clients in relation to the real estate life cycle allows him to deliver a customized solution for their specific property and business plans. He has financed every aspect of the real estate cycle, from ground-up construction and value-add bridge loans to lease-up takeouts and stabilized refinances with discounted payoffs. He’s also closed loans with the full complement of lenders: Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac/HUD, life insurance companies, debt funds, CMBS lenders, regional banks, and private hardmoney providers. Joe’s commitment to a strong work ethic, steadfast honesty, and detailed analysis has earned him a reputation for consistency and reliability regardless of transactional urgency, ambiguity, and complexity.

Joe is fluent in both Korean and Spanish, serves under-represented communities through the Food Bank and American Mensa, and is a competitive shooter.
